BUDAPEST, Hungary (PA) - almost 100 weapons to be used in the film "War world Z" Brad Pitt was confiscated Hungary because what they did had not been properly disabled, authorities, said Tuesday. The weapons included machine guns, rifles and pistols.
The weapons arrived from London at the airport of Liszt in Budapest Ferenc Saturday, have been discovered in a box of duty free in the vicinity, Janos Hajdu, head of the Centre of the Hungary counter-terrorism, said. He said that he could not confirm that they were intended for the film.
"It is possible that all the weapons were brought to the film, but this would not be authorized by the Hungarian law" as weapons had not been entirely disabled and could easily be used to fire the ammunition, Hajdu said on radio new FM. "It's a very complicated case."
Hajdu explains that in Hungary were considered weapons disabled only if the process was"irreversible", while the seized weapons could still be triggered even if screws were used to fill the end of the barrel.
Bela Gajdos, a supervisor of weapons for the "war world Z", said Mafilm, a Hungarian film company based near Budapest had Cannon brought to Hungary, the necessary permits, including a detailed list of the weapons in question, issued by the local police authorities.
"Us had all permits so that weapons are brought," Gajdos told Associated Press by telephone. "They were only laid for this film and belong to a company in England."
Under British regulations, weapons were ready to be used with ammunition blank, Gajdos said, while in Hungary the guns have been regarded as "not properly change."
Gajdos said he had been interviewed by investigators from the Government and that his home in Budapest was thoroughly searched by security forces before dawn Monday who also confiscates the permit.
Gajdos added that he was not able to inspect weapons until the police seized the, but that they would have been verified by him and an expert before allowing their use in the Hungarian film of legal weapons.
Adam Goodman, whose company provides services of production for the "war world Z", said that he had been advised not to comment on the links between the film and seized weapons.
"We are preparing as expected." We change our schedule, "Goodman told the AP." He added that reports claiming the whole of the film had been looted by the police to confiscate weapons were "not true".
