Ive been chewing nicotine gum for a few years and need life insurance, but the rates for a NON SMOKER are about $90 a month compared to about $240 for smoking in the last few years, I havent had a cigarette in over 8 years.....is there a difference in using nicorette gum as apposed to ciggs in the eyes of the insurance company?????Insurance companies vary in their questions regarding tobacco useage. I'm looking at one application for life insurance now that asks "during the past 12 months have you used tobacco in any form?" the definition of nicotine is: a poisonous liquid in tobacco leaves. If through the use of your gum leaves traces of tobacco in your blood sample then you would have to pay smoker rates.
